Paginator - page selection

Multiple clients have requested the ability to jump to a specific page within search results. The paginator currently requires paging through each one. "When I do a search for say 2019 permits and it gives me a list of 2200. I can choose how many I have on a page (say 100), but it would also be nice if after I sort it by permit # to be able to choose which page to skip to instead of having to go through each page to get to the page I'm now working with."

Update: we discussed this in our board meeting and while there are no real objections to having the feature, or any specific design constraints, there was some hesitation around the usefulness of this feature. The discussion centered around users browsing data aimlessly, and whether that is a user experience we want to promote/support. Usually there are alternatives that can aid users in finding the records they need, rather than either remembering a specific page number or browsing page after page. Does that make sense?
Long story short, we can certainly add this, but we will want to have careful considerations around its usage and any supporting design guidance in the design system website. It was moved to out backlog to discuss further. Thanks!

Hello! Thank you for the feature request! I've added this item as a discussion topic for our next governance board meeting (3/11/25) and I'll follow up with the result of that once I have one.
This seems like a good opt-in feature to provide within the paginator component, and we'll make a determination about where it will fit in design-wise and get it on the roadmap. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
